The first Jonsson L120-330 double crusher has arrived in Australia in a milestone moment for Tutt Bryant Equipment.

Tutt Bryant Equipment, the exclusive Australian Jonsson dealer, is excited to deliver a new crusher that is seen as a game-changer for Australian crushing and screening.

The company’s Metso crushing and screening account manager for NSW Andrew Peters told Quarry the Jonsson L120-330 double crusher is the “weapon of all weapons”.

It features a pre-scalper, Nordberg C120 jaw crusher, GP330 crusher, and triple-deck product screen (recirculating), all on a single chassis in a compact design. It can operate using electric power via the onboard diesel-electric system connected to mains power, delivering lower operating and maintenance costs for operators. It can also be easily split into three pieces for transport, making it a viable and versatile option for quarries and contractors.

Tutt Bryant Equipment national business manager for crushing and screening Paul Doran described the L120-330 as a high-capacity crusher that effectively functions as three machines in one.

Smart and durable

A lot has changed in the industry since Per Johan Jonsson and his three sons founded PJ Jonsson & Söner in 1953. The company is now part of the Metso Group, but its underlying philosophy of manufacturing crushing equipment has remained.

For more than 70 years, Jonsson has taken pride in building a durable machine that uses smart technology to be operator-friendly and reduce operating costs for businesses.

The Jonsson L120-330 is a flagship model for the Scandinavian manufacturer. The proven concept of two electric-powered crushers on a single chassis eliminates the need for reloading and allows the crusher to be set up in a smaller footprint, which benefits contractors and quarries dealing with space constraints.

Additionally, it facilitates easier movement and transport for contractors requiring high-capacity crushing across multiple projects.

The Jonsson Monitoring System, JMS, provides access to a range of digital services. The control system and the monitoring system gives operators access to real-time data that they can use to make informed decisions to improve their operations.

The JMS can upload a signal from the crusher via a modem to a database that tracks all its activities. The database information is showcased in a graphical dashboard, with reports and analysis on everything from day-to-day operations to preventive maintenance.

All the belts on the crushers are equipped with a scale which the JMS can display data on. This enables operators to monitor the product coming off each belt and track the yield and performance to ensure optimal productivity.

But, after making its name primarily in the European markets, Jonsson is looking to expand its offering into more markets, including Australia.

This is where the partnership with Tutt Bryant Equipment, which also is the exclusive Metso distributor in Australia, has become fundamental. Tutt Bryant Equipment was recognised last year as the highest-selling Lokotrack distributor worldwide and is bringing its expertise to the Jonsson crushers.

“Our record and experience with the Lokotrack distribution showed we could handle this type of high-capacity equipment,” Doran said.

“That is important because, as a distributor, you need to understand the requirements of the customer and their crushing application.

“This partnership is a great fit because Jonsson’s equipment is ideal for professional crushing contractors, quarry operators, and mines dealing with high-capacity crushing projects, and we understand what those customers need.”

Australian impact

The partnership between Jonsson and Tutt Bryant Equipment reached a key milestone with the arrival of the Jonsson L120-330.

Tutt Bryant Equipment has high hopes for the crusher in Australia due to its ability to be easily transported and run off mains power when available. Jonsson’s crushers, including the L120-330, can be towed, which, alongside its capacity to be split into three parts, will mean it can be transported to job sites around Australia.

According to Tutt Bryant Equipment, this means the Jonsson L120-330 can be assembled in a matter of hours and crushing in an operational capacity in next to no time compared to a conventional high-capacity crusher. Doran said the benefits of the Jonsson L120-330 mean it will thrive in the Australian crushing sector.

“It is such a well-built machine. They have thought of all the important details, and the smart operators will be able to use Jonsson crushers to improve the efficiency and profitability of their operations,” he said.

“In terms of cost per tonne, which is important to any quarry, you simply can’t beat using mains power, which is what Jonsson’s crushers provide.

“We know that this type of equipment is a long-term investment for those bigger quarry operators and contractors, and they want to see how it can support their bottom line. This type of machine is a great fit for those operations.” •
