Australian Pump has introduced a new heavy-duty submersible pump with a powerful agitator for pumping thick slurry. The product is made by Japan?s leading submersible pump manufacturer Tsurumi for the concrete mixing and batch plant market.
The pumps are designed to agitate and mix concrete and also aid in the reclamation of materials from unused concrete at batch plants.
The KRS slurry pump series offers capacities of up to 3250 litres per minute flow, and heads as high as 22 metres. The complete series includes discharge bores from 80mm (3?) all the way through to 150mm (6?).
The KRS series are fitted with three-phase, heavy-duty, four-pole high efficiency motors with thermal and amperage protection against dry running or overloading.
?The pump has been designed with a top discharge so it suits concrete or slurry mixing,? said Aussie Pumps? Craig Bridgement. ?The liquid passing through the pump cools the motor, making the pump suitable for use in applications with low water levels.?
The pumps? features include a newly developed double mechanical seal with both top and bottom silicon carbide seal faces running in an oil-filled chamber for extended life.
The mechanical seal also features a unique ?oil lifter? developed to enhance seal performance. The unique design of the mechanical seal enables the ?lifter? to oil the top seal faces, even if the lubricant level drops below the manufacturer?s recommendations. The lubrication cools the seal faces, enhancing life and reducing wear.
The KRS pump range features a high capacity semi-open style impeller to enable a combination of flow and pressure, even in the toughest conditions. The impeller is made from high chrome cast iron for wear resistance, and the suction cover, designed for a long, trouble-free life, is made from ductile cast iron. The shaft seal is a double design, silicon carbide, whilst the pump shaft is 420 grade stainless steel.
The standard equipment includes a heavy-duty eight metre cable to Tsurumi?s unique anti-wicking block which prevents the ingress of water into the motor, even if the cable is damaged or worn.
?The heavy duty KRS series is expected to be of real interest to cement batch plants, particularly for concrete waste recycling,? said Bridgement. ?Water can be removed from sand and gravel pits, leaving the material ready for re-use,? he said.
