The new CEO of SkillsDMC, Steve McDonald, is an expert in vocational education and competency-based training.
Steve’s new role will include responsibility for workforce planning and the development of a national competency recognition system. He said that with all sectors accessing the same shrinking skills pool, industry leaders need to work towards a viable solution to skills shortages.
?Industry leaders must recognise that there is no good or bad time to invest in training and development,? he said. ?For the future strength of the industry, it must always be the right time to upskill the workforce.?
Steve?s commitment to vocational education and training dates back to the early 1990s. He has occupied senior positions at the Australian National Training Authority and the Office of the Commonwealth Minister for Vocational Education and Training. He is currently a member of the TAFE NSW/Western Sydney Institute Advisory Council.
