The addition of the Powerscreen Chieftain 1700X screen is a welcome one for R&E Crushing & Plant Hire, as it accommodates three machines in a crushing train.

There’s a certain buzz, a presence that’s difficult to pinpoint, when new machinery arrives on-site. The low rumble of engines unloading, the smell of fresh steel and hydraulics, and the quiet nod between operators with grins all on their faces, knowing exactly what these machines will mean for them in the long months ahead.

Those working at R&E Crushing & Plant Hire got to experience such a scene, as it welcomed a new Powerscreen Chieftain 1700X screen alongside the Premiertrak 330 and Trakpactor 320, creating a perfect trifecta of advanced machinery.

This addition will bring greater reliability and performance, which are qualities that directly affect projects across Central Queensland and as far as the Sunshine Coast.

R&E Crushing & Plant Hire owners Robert and Emma Hill said that the delivery is just another step forward in a business built upon dependability.

Lincom Group marketing manager Renata Hjelmstrom said R&E Crushing & Plant Hire has earned a strong reputation across Emerald and neighbouring areas for providing crushing, screening, and plant hire services that construction and infrastructure projects can depend on.

“Whether it’s supplying material for council roadworks or supporting major developments, R&D’s mission is to process materials to exacting standards and deliver on time, every time,” Hjelmstrom said.

Each Powerscreen machine has been chosen for its specific strengths. The Premiertrak 330, a high-performance primary jaw-crushing plant, provides the muscle up front, handling raw feed with an output of up to 280 tonnes per hour (tph), while keeping fuel use low due to its efficient drive system. It features a two-piece grizzly feeder that enhances material flow towards the chamber, and user-friendly systems like its track mobility function and variable crusher speed.

The Trakpactor 320 steps in as the finisher, reducer, and shaping material with precision at up to 320tph. It’s a mid-sized horizontal impact crusher designed to offer operators and contractors reliable reduction and high consistency of product shape for performance in quarry and recycling applications. Using track mobility, the plant can operate in the most demanding environments, featuring a rapid set-up time, a fuel-efficient direct drive system, and excellent throughput capacity.

The Powerscreen Chieftain 1700X, the hybrid variation of the 1700 model, features a highly aggressive screenbox with a patented 2/4 bearing drive system and improved screening angle. The mid-sized, high-capacity track mobile screen is designed for end users who require high volumes of finished products in applications such as topsoil, coal, crushed stone, recycling, iron ore, sand, and gravel. It contains a four-bearing box that ties the process together, ultimately delivering a throughput of up to 500tph while being simple to set up and maintain.

When the trifecta of machines works in harmony, the result is a streamlined production train: The jaw crusher feeds into the screen, oversized material is conveyed into the compact crusher, and the final product emerges ready for use as road base in a beautiful Sunshine Coast council quarry. It is a rhythm of efficiency where every stage matters, and every machine pulls its weight.

Hjelmstrom said that if you ask the Hills what matters most, they’re quick to highlight the service and support they receive from Lincom. R&E Crushing & Plant Hire said Lincom field service engineer Matt Atkin’s ‘get it done’ approach has made him a vital and essential part of keeping its operations running smoothly.

“We believe the true measure of success isn’t just in the first load a machine produces, but in the hundreds of loads that follow week after week, year after year,” she said.

“That’s why our after-sales support is just as important as the initial delivery. With parts always on hand, service teams ready to step in, and training available to make sure our operators know their machines inside and out, we stand by our customers long after the machines roll off the truck.”  •
