Gates Australia?s LifeGuard Line-of-Sight sleeving system is capable of containing bursts of up to 10,000 psi, and restrain 5000 psi pinhole leaks at 100?C for as long as five minutes.
A staggering amount of hydraulic incidents are caused by the malfunction of hoses and fittings, with bursts capable of piercing the skin, injuring or killing persons nearby. Because of the extremely high pressure, a fine jet can act like a hypodermic needle, injecting fluid into the body after penetrating the skin.
The LifeGuard sleeving redirects the explosive force of a burst down the length of the hose, then disperses energy and fluids via specially designed ?channel clamps.? The system allows operators to identify leakages, which aren?t always visible or audible, by leaking fluid from the channel clamps.
The system is designed to reduce the risk of personal injury, fluid burns and injections, fires, explosions, electrical shock and mechanical failure.
