Komatsu CEO and MD Sean Taylor will elaborate on Komatsu’s Say Again? campaign in a live cross to all IQ branches worldwide at 5.00pm on 9 November.

The 2020 IQ Caernarfon Award recipient Sean Taylor will be presenting on his company’s Say Again? campaign to all Institute of Quarrying branches across the globe in a live webinar at 6.00pm AEDST, 9 November.

The presentation will be free to all Institute of Quarrying (IQ) members, with the option for non-members to also attend with no charge.

Attendees can register online for the webinar, which is being presented live on Monday, 9 November at 6:00pm AEDST (7:00am GMT).

For those who cannot attend, the presentation will be recorded and made available across all IQ websites.

Sean Taylor is the managing director of Komatsu Australia and was presented with the Caernarfon Award earlier this year for Komatsu’s Say Again? campaign to encourage workplace inclusion and diversity.

The Say Again? campaign encourages its workforce to be conscious of the language and ideas that may negatively impact diverse team building.

In a year where the mineral products industry has demonstrated its flexibility and adaptability because of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that organisations are resilient has become the single key issue driving businesses in all parts of the global economy. Research from consultancy McKinsey & Company shows that organisations that have a proactive approach to diversity and inclusion can achieve greater resilience and performance.

Thanks to its work in this field, Taylor is confident that Komatsu will be in a strong position as it emerges from the pandemic. He says the Say Again? campaign is at the heart of the program being driven by Komatsu’s senior management team.

“It gives everyone the ability to challenge language and ideas that can undermine building diverse teams,” he said. “Being a more open and inclusive company means we can utilise the different skills and experiences of our team and ultimately develop better solutions for our customers.”

IQA President Shane Braddy said the presentation created a unique opportunity to profile the Say Again? campaign across all the IQs.

“As an industry we have promoted the benefits of a diverse workforce for years,” IQA President Shane Braddy said. “IQA members learned from Sean’s presentation what organisations can achieve when there is co-ordinated commitment from within to bring about real change.”

James Thorne, chief executive officer of the IQ UK, told Agg-Net.com that the presentation was “a fantastic opportunity to watch the award-winning presentation from Komatsu Australia’s CEO and MD Sean Taylor. Originally delivered at the Institute of Quarrying Australia’s national conference [in Geelong, Victoria in 2019], now the global IQ community can tune in and watch.

“As an industry we have promoted the benefits of a diverse workforce for years. We hope the extensive work by Sean and Komatsu Australia will influence people to take additional steps towards improving diversity in the industry,” Thorne said.

Registrations for the presentation can be made here.
