Komatsu Australia has joined forces with Macquarie Cloud Services in a multi-million-dollar partnership to enhance its cloud infrastructure.

The multi-year agreement is part of Komatsu’s broader digital transformation strategy. The investment will improve the data backup, disaster recovery, system resilience, and overall operational performance of Komatsu’s cloud infrastructure.

“MCS’s proven ability to deliver tailored hybrid cloud solutions aligns perfectly with Komatsu’s technology roadmap,” Komatsu Australia chief information officer John Steele said.

“We’re investing in a cloud-first future that not only improves our resilience but strengthens our digital foundation and equips us to embrace advanced technologies as the business evolves.”

The transition will include moving to a “secure, sovereign” cloud environment hosted locally in Australia. The move will improve the reliability of Komatsu’s core systems and ensuring stronger data protection and faster recovery capabilities.

Macquarie’s Australian-based engineering and support team will deliver the roll-out. They will ensure the upgraded environment meets strict compliance and data residency standards. It will enable the adoption of real-time analytics, edge computing and AI-driven solutions.

Macquarie Cloud Services head of private cloud Jonathan Staff said the modern cloud platform will support Komatsu’s ambitions for growth.

“Komatsu is making the kind of infrastructure decisions that set the foundation for long-term innovation,” he said.

“This partnership is about modernising core systems so they can move faster, stay secure, and scale with confidence.

“Together, we’re building an environment that enables innovation, strengthens security, and keeps operations running at their best—all on a sovereign, resilient cloud platform built to evolve with the business.”
