John Deere has introduced new features for its operations centre and articulated dump trucks to benefit its customers.

John Deere has revealed new features that will enhance its articulated dump trucks (ADTs) as well as its digital customer experience for customers.

New features within the John Deere Command Center will enable users to access comprehensive job site data and machine health information. Customer feedback has influenced the changes to the digital platform to ensure John Deere customers can access the data they need in their daily operations.

“Our customers voiced their needs for solutions that help provide additional job site monitoring and analysis to manage costs, optimise productivity and ultimately increase profits,” John Deere product marketing manager Katie Voelliger said.

“With the introduction of new features within the operations centre, our customers can now monitor their fleet more effectively than ever before. This not only helps maximise productivity, it empowers operators and fleet supervisors to fully leverage their technology investments on the job.”

The new features include custom alerts for idle time and for exceeding speed or fuel limits to support proactive planning and maximise productivity. Sites can be monitored in real time through Jobsite Manager and Summary Cards, which help track progress, fuel consumption, and machine locations on each site.

The machine analyser offers customers reports on operators’ usage of grade control and its effect on productivity and payload weighing. The remote display access feature enables customers to assist operators through remote monitoring, enhancing productivity.

The John Deere equipment mobile app now includes the maintenance plan auto assignment feature, allowing customers to add factory maintenance plans to their machines and view specific parts needed for service. With this new feature, customers can manage their machines and maintenance proactively and efficiently.

Beefed up ADTs

The manufacturer has also rolled out new features for its ADTs, including an upgraded engine for certain models and an advanced vision system for situational awareness.

The next-generation John Deere ADTs, the 410 P-Tier and the 460 P-Tier, feature the new JD14 Engine and come equipped with the Advanced Vision System.

The JD14 Engine features Hydraulic Lash Adjusters and integrated oil and coolant paths, which, according to John Deere, can reduce repair time by 20 per cent. This is because the need for valve lash maintenance is eliminated.

The new engine model has improved fuel economy and efficiency over the previous engines due to the high pressure common rail (HPCR) fuel system.

“The JD14 engine and the innovative Advanced Vision System were developed with one goal: enhancing operator productivity and confidence,” John Deere product marketing manager Matt Costello said.

“These advancements not only improve the durability and efficiency of our machines but also set a new standard in visibility, supporting our customers to work smarter, faster, and safer.”

This is achieved through digital cameras positioned on the front grille and right and left mirror bows which help improve visibility to the machine’s sides, plus a digital rear camera as standard. Meanwhile, the in-cab display monitors in the operator’s line of sight provide a real-time perspective. The user interface has three displays that show objects and surroundings and allow the operator to safely execute their role.

Costello said the new system meant the operator would have improved spatial awareness with wider views, auto panning views with articulation, and enhanced clarity of the jobsite.

“With the introduction of our next-generation articulated dump trucks, John Deere is once again raising the bar for both performance and situational awareness on the job site,” he said. •
