The Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) on October 5, with matters of COVID-19, the IQA Conference, and constitutional amendments to be discussed.
Access to the meeting will be available via Microsoft Teams in a COVID-safe manner, ensuring all members can continue to be a part of a growing industry and institute.
The agenda’s first item of business will consider IQA president Shane Braddy’s President’s Report from the 2020-21 Annual Report.
Braddy touched on the response to COVID-19 and how the IQA and its members have worked hard to uphold its strategic values.
“Throughout this time, despite every reason to be feeling negative, the IQA family came together to support one another and to attend events whenever there was an opportunity to do so,” Braddy said in his report.
“The IQA board is extremely grateful to the IQA members, industry pledge partners and sponsors, for in these incredibly difficult times, their support has increased and not diminished.”
The IQA’s strategic priorities are to maximise outcomes for industry through education and sustainable practice, to increase its relevance and to be a high performing and sustainable organisation.
“I am pleased to report we are making great progress in all three areas, while we are not complacent and understand that there is much more to do,” Braddy’s report stated.
“The IQA board recently reviewed the IQA’s strategic plan and approved a number of programs that will advance our work against each of the strategic priorities.”
Also on the AGM agenda will be some minor constitutional amendments and a review of the Australian Institute of Quarrying Education Foundation’s (AIQEF) Committee Report 2020-21.
The AIQEF is an independent charitable organisation, run by the IQA to raise and manage funds for education in quarrying and related industries.
The AGM will take place at 4pm on the first Tuesday in October.
