Holcim Australia has been recognised at the company’s latest iteration of its Australia, Middle East and Asia CSR & Sustainability Awards.
Holcim Australia chief executive officer George Agriogiannis was on hand to receive the award, which recognised its achievement in improving sustainability at its operations.
The recognition came after Holcim Australia developed a new way to use Hydrogen on Demand (HoD) technology. The HoD technology adds hydrogen to diesel engines to improve fuel combustion, reducing diesel use and carbon emissions.
According to Holcim Australia, the results from its HoD initiative has been largely positive.
Its Lang Lang Quarry achieved a 19 per cent fuel reduction, with diesel usage reduced from 93L/hour to 75L/hour. Its Cooma Road Quarry saw 16 per cent fuel savings and reduced diesel usage from 27L/hour to 20L/hour.
The initiative’s success has paved the way for future installations at Dubbo and Moriac quarries.
“These early performance figures reinforce how innovative solutions like HoD can transform operations at sites with limited grid access. It’s a significant step in our journey towards achieving a sustainable future,” the company said.
