Heidelberg Materials Australia has expanded its presence in the local sand market through two acquisitions in Central Queensland.

The company, formerly known as Hanson Australia, has acquired Hardcore Sands and Pink Lily Sands, which operate in Rockhampton, Central Queensland. Heidelberg Materials Australia has confirmed all employees will be retained as part of the acquisition.

“The acquisition by Heidelberg Materials Australia of two quality sand operations in Queensland will extend our footprint in Australia and support our strategic expansion in key markets,” Heidelberg Materials Australia chief executive officer Phil Schacht said.

The Rockhampton quarries supply local government, concrete producers as well as the local earthmoving, landscaping and golf industries. The sites specialise in bulk and wholesale sand, gravel, stones, aggregates and other quarry products.

“The addition of the Hardcore Sands and Pink Lily Sands quarries will complement our existing operations in Central Queensland and augment our market-leading offering for customers,” Heidelberg Materials Australia northern region general manager Charlie Stoneman said.
