One of the largest independent concrete suppliers for Sydney, Gunlake Concrete, has announced the completion of its new solar panel installation project at the city plant at Banksmeadow.
The installation is designed to reduce the plant’s carbon footprint, through the utilisation of its roof space to generate solar electricity.
The project involved the installation of 193 solar panels, which according to Gunlake Concrete, are expected to generate up to 80.1 kilowatts of solar energy.
The solar panels will provide a clean and renewable source of energy for the plant, reducing its reliance on traditional fossil fuels and providing a sustainable source of power for the operation.
As sustainability and emissions requirements for operations continue to tighten, looking to renewable energy sources is something businesses can do to contribute to fighting against climate change, as Gunlake’s managing director, Simon O’Neil spoke on.

The Banksmeadow rooftop solar installation is the first Gunlake Concrete Plant to be completed in NSW and is planned to be followed by other plants across the state.
In total Gunlake, states that the company will “install approximately 223 kilowatts of solar energy across its Sydney concrete business.”
