Fulton Hogan’s joint venture with JF Hull Holdings and McIlwain has been awarded the construction contract for the Coomera Connector Stage 1 Central project.

The project is set to be one of the largest road infrastructure projects in South East Queensland. The $3.026 billion Stage 1 project, which will run between Coomera and Nerang, is jointly funded by the Federal and Queensland Governments.

The central package will deliver a six-lane, eight-kilometre section of the project between Helensvale Road and Smith Street Motorway.

“The project will also facilitate public and active transport, with a shared pedestrian/cycle path with connections into Helensvale and Parkwood stations and connections to future active transport networks along the route,” the company said.

“The design was released to the public in early 2024 and since January 2023 the project has been undertaking early and enabling works in preparation for construction to commence.

“The Coomera Connector will change how Gold Coast residents get around and improve journeys between the growing communities. It will also mean more reliable travel times between Brisbane and the Gold Coast by alleviating congestion by removing up to 60,000 local trips a day from the M1 Pacific Motorway.”
