Gippsland will be home to a major Victorian wind farm after the state government announced the start of the Fulham Solar Farm.
The 80 megawatt (MW) solar farm will be coupled with a 64 MW/128 MWh battery. Octopus Investments will support the project through more than $300 million in investments in the large-scale energy facility.
“This project will generate new jobs and opportunities for local supply chains, boosting investment in the local economy,” Eastern Victoria MP Tom McIntosh said.
The Fulham Solar Farm will support an estimated 156 jobs during construction as well as local services, goods, materials, including construction materials, to support local supply chains. This is estimated to be up to 67 per cent during construction and up to 97 per cent once operational. The project will have an operational life of 35 years.
“This project is a fantastic example of how we’re working with industry to provide opportunities for local supply chains and local communities to benefit from our renewable energy future,” Victorian resources minister Lily D’Ambrosio said.
