Coastwide Readymix Concrete, on New South Wales? Central Coast, recently acquired the Hunter Readymixed Concrete plant at Warnervale. The purchase builds on industry commitment and experience that had its genesis in 1963.
Industry stalwart Mario Tripolone acquired land in West Gosford in 1990 to provide the then booming region with a locally owned and operated batching plant. The establishment of Allworth Quarry in 1995 provided the vertical integration to guarantee consistent quality and continuity of supply. Organic growth underpinned Coastwide?s expansion; the addition of the Somersby plant culminated in the recent Warnervale acquisition to improve service, delivery and flexibility to the northern Central Coast region.
Warnervale is one of the few Central Coast towns with land available for residential development that will experience population growth in the next five years. The combination of rail, airport and land has created the ?perfect storm? for the construction industry which will be better serviced by the Warnervale concrete plant.
With the Warnervale Town Centre project expected to exceed $150 million in value and create 1200 jobs, the long term investment could exceed $1 billion. The town centre master plan covers an area of 119 hectares, providing 2200 homes for 6000 people. More than 50 per cent of the homes will be apartments, providing housing for older couples and younger families.
Wyong Shire Council is working with the NSW and federal governments and landholders Landcom and Woolworths to progress the Warnervale Town Centre project and major roadworks to the proposed North Warnervale railway station.
The State Government has announced funding for the design and construction of the intersection with Sparks Road that will form the Town Centre Access Road. Council has cleared land it owns in the town centre precinct in readiness for the access road construction. A promised injection of $4.5 million in federal funding to assist with water and sewer infrastructure construction for the town centre scheme will stimulate affordable housing in North Wyong.
Design and planning for community parklands is under way, with 40ha of the 119ha town centre site set aside for public recreation, environmental management and conservation.
Woolworths has a part 3A application before the State Government for stage one of the shopping centre development comprising an ultra-modern supermarket, a Big W, speciality shops, a civic square and al-fresco dining. A new GP super clinic will also assist expansion of essential services.
The modern Warnervale batching plant produces up to 80m3 of product per hour. Coastwide upgrades its production software and keeps abreast of industry innovation. Quality assurance protocols and National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) compliance ensures the concrete meets Australian Standards. Warnervale has commercially robust prospects and its acquisition included an operationally strong management team.
New developments on other parts of the Central Coast will benefit from the early rollout of the National Broadband Network in early 2013, which is expected to encourage government departments, eCommerce and health and education services to relocate to the Central Coast.
Gosford Council will encourage redevelopment of commercial premises to accommodate businesses and organisations that take advantage of this key infrastructure. The three-stage Landing project for the Gosford waterfront will also fuel the construction industry.
The Australian Reptile Park redevelopment recently provided a challenge for Coastwide when sculptors Erika Joffe and Murray Scott from Naturethemes required a coloured concrete ?landscape that … looked natural and had strength that resembled the natural earth?. The challenge was in sourcing a concrete that had workability for one to two hours. Joffe?s inquiries led her to Tripolone. Coastwide had the flexibility within its batching operation to provide a personalised mix.
?Even after all these years, it still feels satisfying to meet the challenges some projects present,? Tripolone said.
