Boral has expanded its presence in the Victorian construction materials market through the acquisition of Wallan Concrete Plant.

The company’s latest acquisition of the recently built concrete plant will help it support customers in the Northern corridor of Melbourne. The plant’s workforce will be transitioned to Boral.

Boral executive general manager of concrete and quarries (South) Matt McKenzie said the acquisition would complement the existing concrete batching plant and quarry at Wollert.

“We know the long-term growth projection in Melbourne, particularly to the north is strong, and Wallan Concrete’s proximity to the market, adjacent to the Hume Freeway, makes it well-positioned to service existing and future customers,” McKenzie said.

“The plant is practically brand new and we’re very excited to have this great asset now part of our integrated operations, and its potential to supply key projects in the Northern Melbourne region.

“What is also important is that we are today welcoming new employees to the Boral team.”

The Wallan Concrete Plant site includes a dry batch concrete plant, four cementitious silos, 10 raw material ground bins and a modern office with driver facilities and undercover truck parking.

Boral hosted a welcome lunch for the Wallan Concrete Plant team, with Corey Gatt, the general manager of concrete (Victoria), and Grant Lediott, the head of strategy and capital.
