BMD has announced the balance of plant scope for the Hawkesdale Wind Farm has been successfully carried out.
The wind farm located in southwest Victoria will be able to generate 97 megawatts of clean energy from 23 turbines.
BMD carried out the balance of plant scope while working together with Global Power Generation Australia (GPGA) and electrical works contractor Consolidated Power Projects.
BMD general manager for Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania Ivan Fratric said the company had prioritised engaging the local community throughout its works.
“The project achieved over 60 per cent local materials and supplies demonstrating the priority our project teams place on engaging with local stakeholders in regional settings,” he said.
“In collaboration with our client GPGA, BMD delivered a number of community support initiatives including raising more than $30,000 for the Western District Health Service to fund a new biopsy machine.”
Throughout the project, BMD worked alongside key local stakeholders including local councils, road authorities, service providers and local landowners. The project team worked with the landowners to address access concerns, implementing a gate access management system to ensure livestock segregation and protection.
“The delivery of the Hawkesdale Wind Farm project builds on BMD’s capability to deliver projects that support the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources,” BMD said in its release.
