Extractive suppliers to show off wares at QME

More than 200 companies will showcase the latest industry technologies via live demonstrations and product launches at the 2018 Queensland Mining & Engineering expo in Mackay in late July.

According to the event organiser, the biennial exhibition – colloquially known as QME – is expected to attract ‘the largest and strongest supplier and speaker presence in years, with 35 per cent more exhibitors than in 2016’.

Suppliers with links to the extractive industry – such as Caterpillar’s Queensland distributor Hastings Deering, Metso Australia, Isringhausen, ESS Engineering and Flexco – will be among the exhibitors.

With the mining industry poised for growth, QME 2018 will, according to the organiser, highlight the adoption of transformative practices for companies to stay relevant, particularly around digital technologies and maintenance.
The exhibition is complemented by a seminar series, workshops and networking events to provide opportunities for sourcing, learning and networking.

Keynote presentations, case study presentations and panel discussions will focus on six key areas: maintenance, automation and the Internet of Things, procurement and the supply chain, renewable energy, transport, and health and safety.

The Bowen Basin Mining Club will again host the 2018 Queensland Mining Awards in partnership with the Queensland Resources Council.

Flexco – a supplier of conveyor solutions to the quarrying industry – will exhibit, among other things, a DRX impact bed that ensures conveyor belt protection.

The Flexco sales team will educate attendees on the best solutions while national sales manager Glenn Baxter will present best practices in belt conveyor system maintenance on 24 July. Flexco’s technologically advanced audit app to capture data about a belt conveyor system will also be discussed.
