Terex Trucks appoints new Australian rigid trucks dealer

CJD Equipment, a leading supplier of construction equipment throughout Australia, has been designated the distributor of Terex Trucks’ rigid haulers throughout the area.

According to a company statement, the appointment will see the rigid haulers accompany CJD’s Volvo articulated hauler range.

“Terex Trucks’ rigid machines complement CJD’s range of equipment to serve clients in Australia. We are delighted with this appointment and confident that with this partnership we have the reach to better serve customers around the country,” the statement read.

Terex Trucks became a division of Volvo Construction Equipment in 2014 and manufactures off-highway rigid and articulated haul trucks that are used in mining, quarrying and construction applications worldwide.

Industry benefits

Commenting on the deal, CJD national marketing manager Caine Frost told Quarry the addition to its portfolio would be an asset to the industry, as it would allow the company to service all Volvo products in the market.

“This will allow us the opportunity to participate in markets that we previously didn’t have a complete product offering,” he said.

CJD Equipment is set to distribute all four models of the manufacturer’s rigid haulers – the TR45, TR60, TR70 and TR100.

“[The models] will be set up to suit all customer segments and industries including quarrying and mining,” Frost added.

Given that Porter Group – a leading supplier of heavy equipment throughout Australia and New Zealand – recently acquired the rights to distribute Terex Trucks' articulated haulers in Australia and New Zealand, Frost was asked whether CJD anticipated this could create some confusion in the marketplace.

“No, we don’t see any confusion,” Frost said, adding CJD had no plans to team up on offerings of both the rigid and articulated haulers with Porter Group.

“At this stage, we also wouldn’t see any collaboration as we already have the market leading premium Volvo articulated hauler range to complement the new Terex rigid haulers.”

Terex Trucks’ APAC sales and marketing director Clement Cheong echoed similar statements.

“In the Oceania region, it was decided that Porter Group would be well suited to distributing our ADTs and that CJD would be suited to supplying rigid frame trucks,” Cheong told Quarry.

“Both companies have a long-standing reputation as suppliers of these units, along with other units of capital equipment for a variety of industries.”

Founded in 1974 and headquartered in Perth, CJD Equipment provides equipment sales, service, and consultation to consumers in the construction, quarrying and mining industries.
