Tracked feeder conveyor impresses in tough conditions

The latest Anaconda feeder conveyor demonstrates its mettle in some of Western Australia’s most arduous conditions.
OPS Screening and Crushing Equipment, based in Perth, supplies a comprehensive range of fixed, modular, radial and track-mounted conveyor solutions and is the distributor for the Anaconda Equipment range of products in this segment of the market in Western Australia and the Northern Territory; the east coast distributor for the Anaconda range is Finlay Crushing and Screening, based in Brisbane.

The objective of radial and track-mounted conveyor solutions is to help reduce the operating cost and environmental impact of materials handling by removing the need for the continuous movement of material by wheel loaders.

Radial and track mounted conveyor solutions also offer greater stockpiling capacity and ensure that the operator maximises the processing of materials by keeping crushers, screens and/or shredders continually fed.

Anaconda Equipment has announced another new product to add to its rapidly increasing range. The FTR150 tracked feeder conveyor is designed for use as a loading conveyor for barges, boats, railway carriages and trucks. It can also be widely used as a feeder loader to control the flow of material to a new or existing crushing/screening plant.

The unit is available with an open feeder to accept all materials into the feed hopper or can be fitted with a remote reject grid to scalp off any oversize material present. There is also the possibility of fitting a vibrating grid to help separate/remove any unwanted large material that may be more difficult to scalp with the standard reject grid. This vibrating grid is available as a double deck where a further product can be removed and stockpiled.

Anaconda’s success to date has been attributed to the quality of products, performance of products, how cost competitive the range of products is and also its unique designs which enable all tracked screens and conveyors to be shipped worldwide in standard 12 metre containers without any dismantling or rebuild. The FTR150 is no different and has already proved to be a popular choice in the USA
and Australia.

Commenting on the company’s most recent new product, Anaconda’s operations director Martin Quinn is excited by this latest offering. “The FTR150 has been designed for three key markets – the USA, Australia and Africa. The feedback from our network of dealers clearly showed that there was a need for such a product to satisfy existing demand from customers,” Quinn explained.

“The product has a wide variety of uses and can be shipped in a standard 12m container without dismantling, which is what Anaconda is all about. We have added variable speed controls to both conveyors to ensure the operator has full control of the scalping/feeding process and the availability of a reject grid or vibrating grid will be popular, depending on the type/make-up of the material.”

Rio Tinto has recently installed an Anaconda FTR150 on its site at West Angelas. The material being processed is crushed waste iron ore with required tonnages of 500 tonnes per hour. The FTR150 is being used in conjunction with the train loading reclaimers to increase loading output.

Four to five trains that are approximately two kilometres in length are being loaded on a daily basis with material bound to port for shipment. The Anaconda FTR150 is currently achieving around 700 tonnes per hour and has surpassed site expectations. Rio Tinto are in the process of investigating the potential need for purchasing a second Anaconda FTR150 to be deployed on the same project.

2013 is certainly another important year for Anaconda and its Australian distributors OPS and Finlay, with further product launches and attendance at key trade events likely to see all three companies gain more ground in the crushing and screening sector.
