More in store at Cat

Caterpillar Group president Stu Levenick has officially opened Hastings Deering’s dedicated general construction facility in Brisbane. The new construction store represents an investment of $30 million.
The 11,000m2 facility strengthens Hastings Deering’s offering as a one-stop shop for south east Queensland’s construction and infrastructure sector.

Levenick said the 65 year relationship between Caterpillar and Hastings Deering and its dealer network’s support for Cat owners was very important.

“For Caterpillar, relationships are critical. Through the generations, they are what really matter in this business,” Levenick said.

“The relationships customers have with our products and our dealers play a big part in the growth and success of their businesses. Our whole purpose is to make customers more successful – that’s what our business model is all about.”

Scott Cameron, managing director for Hastings Deering, said the branch represented a significant investment for the dealer, and a commitment to providing unparalleled support for customers.

“Many of our customers are responding to resource-led construction projects, particularly in oil and gas. This new branch offers 24 hour support for all construction customers, to maximise the productivity and effectiveness of their investment in Caterpillar equipment,” Cameron added.

“Whether customers own one Cat machine or 100, we’ve invested in new facilities and a range of initiatives to provide a level of service and professionalism that’s second to none.”

The new facility, located on Beaudesert Road in Acacia Ridge, was purpose-built to meet the unique requirements of construction clients.

It provides customers with access to key personnel for new and used Caterpillar sales, rental, service and parts expertise and employs around 300 staff.

The facility houses a 2500m2 warehouse and 4500m2 workshop space as well as a dedicated hydraulic hose shop and 24/7 parts availability.

Annually, the branch is forecast to assemble more than 500 compact construction machines.

A new general construction store has also opened in Mackay with similar facilities earmarked in other areas.

Additional parts support is also on the horizon as Caterpillar has invested in a new 46,450m2 parts distribution centre on the Gold Coast, which is due to open in 2013.
