Holcim US scores top honours at NSSGA’s excellence awards

Holcim US has won a series of excellence awards from the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA).

In total, Holcim US had seven aggregates sites recognised across a series of categories including safety, community relations, and environmental programs. The awards night was held in Washington, DC as part of NSSGA’s Legislative & Policy Forum.

“Our aggregates operations lead in not only providing foundational materials for regional construction, they also lead in being responsible corporate citizens,” said Michael LeMonds, vice president for ESG and US chief sustainability officer.

“We’re proud of our site leadership and local employees for modeling best-in-class safety, community relations, and environmental excellence for our industry peers and other businesses in the markets we serve.”

Bridgeton Sand Plant, near St. Louis, Missouri, claimed a gold award for safety excellence due to its workplace safety initiatives. The Bridgeton Sand Plant’s achievement was a first for Holcim US.

Marblehead Quarry in Ohio recieved a gold award for its community relations intiatives. One program saw the quarry bring together middle school and high school educators and administrators to share classroom curriculum and career guidance programs for students.
