‘True honour’: Giraud recognised for work with Holcim ANZ

Cyril Giraud has been recognised as industry leading in creating a more sustainable, resilient and efficient built environment through his work with Holcim Australia and New Zealand.  

Giraud, who is head of sustainability at Holcim Australia, was recognised as a 2024 Green Star Champion by the Green Building Council of Australia in its recent awards.  

“Being recognised as a Green Star Champion is a true honour and a testament to our team’s hard work at Holcim,” he said. 

The fourth year of the awards saw the achievements of engineers, planners, architects, professionals, consultants, and leading advocates who help achieve green star certifications in the built environment celebrated.  

“Each and every recipient has demonstrated tireless dedication to the creation of healthy and efficient places that respond to the challenge that is climate change,” chief impact officer Jorge Chapa said. 

“The Green Star Champions showcase Australian excellence in their chosen fields, all with one common goal: the sustainable transformation of our built environment.”  

Holcim Australia and New Zealand chief executive officer George Agriogiannis welcomed Giraud’s recognition.  

“We are incredibly proud of Cyril for being recognised as a Green Star Champion,” he said.  

“Under Cyril’s guidance, Holcim ANZ has embedded sustainability into our core strategy, driven the shift towards circular economies, and championed energy-efficient, nature-integrated urban development.  

“His efforts to decarbonise the building lifecycle have set new industry standards…We look forward to continuing our journey in building progress for people and the planet with his guidance and expertise.”
