Wainwright’s long-serving chief executive has stepped aside as the company ushers in a new era under its succession plan.
Peter Barkwill has moved on from the top job after 26 years with Wainwright, promoting Tom Longland from chief operating officer into the leadership.
Barkwill oversaw a strong period at the company, with records showing the past three years were the most profitable in its history.
“I’ve loved my time as Wainwright’s Chief Executive and look forward to maintaining my connections as a non-executive director,” Barkwill said.
“With Tom at the helm, supported by an exemplary team, the company is in great hands.”
Longland was welcomed to the top job. The former Brett Aggregates worker joined in April 2023 with more than 19 years of experience in the industry.
“Peter Barkwill is a hard act to follow,” Wainwright’s Chairman, Philip Percival said.
“But in Tom we have in place somebody who has the experience, skills and personality to lead Wainwright for the next 20 years.
“It’s an exciting time for Wainwright, and a great privilege to take over from someone of Peter’s stature,” Longland said. “I look forward to leading the team as we continue to build for the future.”
