New details revealed on Keperra Quarry development

More details have been revealed on the Keperra Quarry development ahead of home owners potentially settling at the site next year.

The former quarry, which is within 10km of Brisbane, has been used in several parts of the redevelopment. Examples of this include boulder walls, drainage gravel and decomposed gravel for the land lots.

Fraser Property Australia development director Nick Kostellar, speaking to the Courier Mail, said the quarry rehabilitation was exciting.

“A lot of people have been blown away. From afar is hard to visualise how it’s going to be transformed, but a lot of buyers are getting comfort in the way that we’ve approached it,”  he said to the Courier Mail.

“(It is) definitely the most unique project I’ve ever worked on in terms of its setting, its complexity, the construction methodology. The most unique projects are also the most rewarding at the end of the day.”

What does it mean?

According to reports, 500 new homes are expected to be built on the site featuring parts of the quarry as part of the eight-stage development. It is expected to house between 1500 and 1800 people once it is complete.

A 25m lap pool, wellness gym and other community facilities have been included to transform the quarry site.

A 2,500sq neighbourhood centre and childcare could be added in the future.

Stage one features 29 land lots with prices from $580,000 to $850,000 according to reports. Stage two will feature 23 homes while stages three and four will have 28 and 37 lots respectively.

Quarry has previously featured news on the development.

Brisbane City Council planning chairman Julian Simmonds noted in February that the Keperra Quarry conversion to a housing precinct created new “opportunities” for homebuyers.

“(It) will deliver new lifestyle and leisure opportunities for residents living in the area and provide an inviting new area for the community and neighbouring residents to enjoy,” he said.
