Construction company of the CIMIC Group, CPB Contractors, have been selected by the New South Wales Government to deliver the main works construction on the Nepean Hospital Redevelopment Stage 2 project.
The works to expand and upgrade the Nepean Hospital and community-based services, includes the construction of a new clinical tower, the refurbishment of other buildings and the upgrade of stormwater and support services.
The project is part of the NSW Government’s $1 billion expansion of the hospital and will generate revenue of approximately $260 million to CPB Contractors.
A new 14-storey clinical tower as part of Nepean Redevelopment Stage 1 was successfully completed by CPB Contractors last year, as CIMIC group executive chairman Juan Santamaria spoke on about the company’s work on the initial and upcoming project.
“We are pleased to have another opportunity to use our building expertise to deliver essential infrastructure for the people of Western Sydney,” Santamaria said, “delivering a new building that will seamlessly connect to the Stage 1 tower.”
“We have a long-term commitment to the region and are involved in delivering assets and infrastructure that will benefit the community for decades to come.”
CIMIC Group is an engineering-led construction, mining, services and public private partnerships leader working across the lifecycle of assets, infrastructure and resources projects.
With experience from working on Stage 1 of the project, CPB Contractors managing director Jason Spears said that the disruption to the hospital and related buildings will be minimised throughout the completion of the project.
“CPB Contractors successfully delivered the redevelopment of the Campbelltown Hospital and Nepean Hospital’s Stage 1 and our teams will use this experience to minimise any disruption to the health campus,” Spears said.
“We will ensure that local training, employment and supplier opportunities are maximised as we safely deliver this project.”
CPB Contractors is additionally involved in the delivery of other projects in Western Sydney including the western section of the M12 motorway, Western Sydney International Airport, Parramatta Light Rail and the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport line.
Stage 2 main works construction will commence in 2023.
