Holcim US expands footprint in US

Holcim has acquired Basic Construction Company’s sand and gravel operations in Virginia, USA strengthening its footprint in the Mid-Atlantic.

Holcim has acquired Basic Construction Company’s sand and gravel operations in Virginia, US, strengthening its footprint in the Mid-Atlantic states.

Basic Construction Company will provide significant, strategically located, aggregate reserves across 230 acres. This will strengthen Holcim’s presence in Mid-Atlantic region.

This acquisition is part of Holcim US’s goal to grow its operations through bolt-on acquisitions in mature markets in aggregates.

The Basic Construction Company was established over a 100 years ago in Eastern Virginia. It has a history of responsible operations and strong community roots.

“We’re excited to add this 230-acre strategic reserve, which will support our continued expansion in the Virginia market and begin a strong community engagement in New Kent County,” Holcim US head of the mid-Atlantic region Cedric Barthelemy said.

The operations will be managed by Barthelemy, Holcim US Southern Virginia area manager Donnie Bostic and Holcim US Mid-Atlantic Region general manager Corey Johnson.
