Caterpillar launches Cat 395 excavator

Caterpillar has announced its Cat 395 excavator, promising higher production levels and a reduction in maintenance costs compared with the outgoing Cat 390F.

The Cat 395 excavator will provide aggregates operations with 10 per cent more production and will decrease maintenance costs by up to 20 per cent compared to the 390F model.

According to Caterpillar, the new excavator is commonly equipped with a 6.5 cubic metre bucket for mass excavation applications. Its production increase is achieved by 10 per cent greater stick force and swing torque.

The 94-tonne excavator can operate in power, smart and ECO modes. Power mode provides maximum power consistently; ECO mode reduces engines speed while maintaining breakout force; and smart mode can automatically match engine and hydraulic power to digging conditions for a reduction in fuel consumption.

It also features a 405-kilowatt Cat C18 engine that is cable of achieving emissions configurations for any region globally.

The C18 engine also saves on fuel due to its cooling system’s on-demand fan that operates only when required, and also features an auto reverse function to clean debris from the cooling cores for more efficient operations.

Caterpillar has also included a new air filter in the 395 with an integrated precleaner and primary and secondary filters to double its dust-holding capacity compared to the previous configuration.

The 395 excavator’s booms, sticks and frame are also twice as strong as the 390F model to ensure the machine is more robust.

For operators, the 395 cab has a front-facing control panel, keyless pushbutton start, and a touchscreen monitor with jog dial keys all as standard equipment.

The cab includes a tilt-up console for easy entry and exit, plus advanced viscous cab mounts to decrease vibrations for less fatigue.

The Cat 395 excavator also features user-friendly technology, including Cat Payload to provide ‘on-the-go’ weighing and real-time payload estimates, along with Cat Product Link which provides wireless information for machine managers to evaluate its critical operating information.
