Construction equipment supplier develops self-service concrete plant

Liebherr has announced its self-service concrete mixing plant for building materials suppliers, which is set to improve customer access to high quality concrete.

The mobile plant saves time and allows for greater customer flexibility, opening up possibilities for extending the portfolios of building material suppliers.

Producers who buy the plant will be able to offer fresh concrete on the same site as other aggregates.

According to Liebherr, the plant has been designed for small customers, such as gardeners and landscapers, stone setters and civil engineers. Its compact footprint allows it to be transported by a single truck, requiring a floor space of around 100m2.

Liebherr’s intention is to allow the end customer to choose a specific quantity of concrete from the plant’s range of concrete and screed types, which range from 0.15 cement-bound materials (CBM).

The plant features a high output rate of 30 CBM per hour due to independent weighing of individual components.

The self-service system allows customers to drive their vehicle under the plant with the mixing process being run through a QR code. It takes two to three minutes after scanning the QR code to deliver fresh concrete into a trailer or mixer.

Owners of the mobile plant will also be able to set up specific opening hours through Liebherr’s use of automated technology.

With sales starting, Liebherr hopes the plant allows quarry operators to expand their services to supply concrete alongside other aggregates.
