Volvo CE expands as Indonesian demand rises

PT Indotruck Utama (ITU) has invested $USD6 million ($AUD6.5 m) in a 1.2 hectare, state-of-the-art sales and aftermarket facility at Palembang to serve customers in the mining, forestry, cement, industrial and construction sectors.
?This new facility will be staffed by 40 highly qualified sales professionals and service technicians to offer enhanced service and sales support to our customers in this region,? ITU CEO Stefan Soenchen said. ?As a result, we expect sales to increase significantly by 2015.?
The site, which will be open seven days a week, has a parts warehouse, a body works and paint facility, and improved on-site service support.
PT Volvo Indonesia managing director Mark Gabel and senior members of the PT Indomobil Group?s board of directors joined customers and staff at the inauguration ceremony.
?The investment ITU has made in this new facility is an excellent example of its commitment to growing the Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) and Volvo Trucks business in Sumatra, Java and Papua ? and for this we are very grateful,? Gabel said.
Gabel added that a PT Volvo Indonesia business manager would be deployed in Palembang to support ITU, offering on-the-ground support and help with growth activities.
ITU became the official dealer for Volvo CE in 2011, covering the Indonesian areas of Sumatra, Java, Nusa Tenggara and Papua.
