Victoria-based quarry equipment supplier Walsh Engineering Services will soon be distributing the full range of Striker’s mobile crushing and screening plant in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
Previously, Striker directly supplied and supported customers nationwide. However, business development manager Neil McKenna said the quarrying industry’s growth in recent years had led the company to decide to adopt a “dealer partners” business model.
He added that Striker planned to expand into the US, Middle East, China and Southeast Asia, and as such, had decided to focus on its “core strengths” of plant design and manufacture, leaving distributors to take over direct sales.
“We realised if we were to grow our market share and continue to support the customer base in these regions [Victoria, SA and Tasmania], we needed a local partner that had a like-minded emphasis and beliefs when it came to customer service and support,” McKenna explained.
“Walsh Engineering Services has a long history, not only in Victoria but up and down the complete east coast, and their drive to provide clients with the best solutions and continuing support showed Striker that this was a company that had very similar core values.
“Knowing this, it was an easy decision for the management of both companies to agree on a partnership, and will ensure the Striker brand expands into new markets as well.”
Home-grown quality
Commenting on the benefits of the partnership, Walsh Engineering Services managing director Matthew Walsh said the quality of Striker’s equipment was “second to none”.
“They listen to their customers and develop machines to better suit their needs and the application,” he stated. “This partnership will give Walsh Engineering Services the ability to provide its current and future clients an alternative to the current ‘off the shelf’-type equipment predominantly seen over on the east coast.”
Walsh said Striker’s mobile range – which includes jaw, cone and impact crushers, horizontal and incline screens, reclaimers and trommels – “fits perfectly” with the fixed plant his company currently offers.
“It’s a great feeling dealing with an Australian-owned and based OEM,” Walsh stated, adding, “Walsh Engineering Services is excited to step into the next stage of being a dealer and selling capital equipment.”
The distribution partnership will be finalised on 1 March, 2016 with a signing ceremony at Walsh Engineering Services’ offices in Victoria.
McKenna noted that earlier Striker had appointed Global Crushers and Spares as the company’s New South Wales distributor, and that it was in the process of completing similar agreements in Queensland and the Northern Territory. Striker will continue to directly supply the Western Australian market, where its headquarters is based.
