New chief economist for resources and energy

BREE comprises staff transferred from the resources and energy branch of the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) and will produce ABARES? resources and energy related publications.
?With the pressures of rapid growth in mining and the transition to a clean energy economy, we need a deep pool of reliable and insightful analysis,? said Martin Ferguson, the Federal Minister for Resources and Energy.
?As a leading economic thinker with extensive experience in influencing and developing policy, Prof Grafton will ensure the Bureau?s success.?
Prof Grafton was Director of the Centre for Water Economics, Environment and Policy and Professor of Economics at the Crawford School of Economics and Government, Australian National University.
Prof Grafton will be joined by an advisory board of leading energy and resource sector economists from both the private and public sectors to support the creation of BREE.
