Presented by contract coal miner Thiess, the operator?s skills will be tested within the safe confides of a simulator. The ability to circumnavigate a tough open pit haul circuit will be judged by the simulator. The safety, efficiency and precision of the driver will be used as the main criteria in deciding the winner. The driver that scores the best in all aspects will receive a weekend away at the Gold Coast for four people. The two runners up will both receive Apple I-pads.
The entry is free to all eligible drivers. ?It will be a great way for the region?s leading industry to promote it skills,? said Danny McCarthy, Thiess?s Northern Region Executive Manager of Mining, during the launch. Contestants can bring along their families to enjoy a front seat view of the skills required to safely operate this heavy machinery.
