Innovation, partnerships at the core of distributor’s success

The Bost Group hails from humble beginnings: a family-owned and operated business that was established in 1988 in Wagga Wagga, NSW. While it’s come a long way since then, it still retains the values on which it was established. The founders had a vision to become the preferred provider of innovative industry solutions, accessible to customers large and small.

A year later Bost opened its flagship depot in Derrimut, in Melbourne’s western suburbs. This allowed the company to expand its national reach and build on its already successful mining products business, based in Welshpool, Western Australia. In 2017, Bost Group expanded into Sydney and opened a branch in Smeaton Grange, to the southwest of the city.

Today, it continues to service the mining, quarrying, earthmoving, infrastructure and construction, demolition, recycling and waste management industries. Its six divisions – crushing and screening, mining, attachments, used, rental, support – aim to meet the varied needs of all these industries.

Partnerships
Bost Group’s focus and vision is to build a presence across Australia and be the preferred supplier in all the markets it services. This is made easier because of the support it receives from like-minded companies.

Bost Group is the distributor for Portafill, Keestrack, Trevi Benne and Gasparin.

“We have partnered with four fantastic companies that share the same focus on quality, reliability and support,” Bost Group’s national sales and marketing manager Darren Newman said. “When you’re striving to be the best, the journey is made easier when you’re supported by like-minded companies.”

A vision for innovation
Innovation is at the centre of Bost Group’s vision: it’s about staying ahead of the game and continuing to drive growth. The company promotes innovative approaches within the organisation, but also sources innovative products from external supply chains.

Bost Group’s goals are simple: to work smarter, safer and improve efficiencies that result in greater production and, ultimately, profits for its customers.

{{quote-A:R-W:200-Q:“We are an innovative business that understands the changing needs of the industries we work in.”}} Its collaborative approach to innovation is built around sharing problems, learning, taking opportunities and finding solutions; employees, customers, industry experts and organisations come together to solve problems and turn concepts into something that will create lasting value.

Bost Group strives to provide its clients with value-driven and innovative products to enhance business efficiency, reduce downtime and operational costs, increase productivity and flexibility and, above all, maximise profitability.

One of the advantages Bost Group has over its competitors is its in-house engineering team.

“Having our own team of engineering professionals means we have the ability to be constantly working on product improvement for Bost Group’s range of products,” Newman said.

“Having an engineering team in place enables us to have the flexibility to change our priorities if things come up unexpectedly; we have the ability to speed up response time on urgent issues, which allows us to significantly reduce lead times.”

Mining
Built by miners for miners, Bost Group is one of the leading global manufacturers of underground mining equipment.

Its decades of knowledge and experience has laid the foundations for its range of products, which include safe refuge chambers, refuelling stations, work platforms, LV trays and underground buckets.

“We are continually researching and developing products and equipment to meet the requirements of the international mining market for today and the future,” Newman said.

“Mine safety and emergency management is at the forefront of Bost Group’s mission; it’s central to the company’s manufacturing and design considerations.”

Website redesign
Bost Group recently launched a new website – bostgroup.com.au –that’s easier to navigate and provides greater industry information. The site includes:

  • New Innovations section, featuring articles for the mining division, Keestrack (crushing and screening) and Trevi Benne (attachments).
  • Industrial solutions search function.
  • Improved news section with blogs and industry news.
  • Enhanced search capabilities.
  • Improved mobile functionality.

“We are an innovative business that understands the changing needs of the industries we work in and our website is a reflection of our commitment to be a market leader,” Newman said.

“As technologies change it becomes more important that online information is up to date and easily accessible via mobile devices. We want our customers to have easy access to the information they require and our new website has given us a great platform to provide that. It will enable us to continually develop our offerings moving forward.”

Looking towards the future
Bost Group hopes to continue its current growth and increase its presence across the country.

“We continue to grow and increase our support networks across Australia. We want to be recognised as an industry leader for all our products, support and customer focus,” Newman said.

“We have a fantastic range of quality products, so we’re very excited about our future and look forward to continuing to do what we have always done, which is working hard and listening to the needs of our customers.”
