Registration opens for CMIC18

The Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) and Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia (CCAA) are the two joint organisers of CMIC18. To be hosted at Sydney’s International Convention Centre between 19 and 21 September, this year’s theme is ‘Building tomorrow’s Australia’.

“The construction materials industry will fuel the infrastructure boom …  It is therefore crucial that our industry responds to the challenge of ‘Building Tomorrow’s Australia,’” an organising committee statement noted.

“Construction jobs have already grown strongly, up 64,400 in the second quarter of 2017 alone – and for the first time in [more than] 30 years, this industry reflects just short of one in 10 jobs in the broader economy.

“Our industry must leverage off technology and its exponential growth as concepts such as ‘driverless trucks’ and ‘drones’ have already moved from science fiction to reality,” it added.

Industry leaders and keynote speakers include Libby Lyons, the director of the Workplace Gender Equality Agency and Bruce Harvey, the director of consultancy business Solution88.

The format of the conference – which was first introduced in 2014 – will incorporate an exhibition open day. This will focus on providing delegates with maximum opportunities to be exposed to suppliers, peers and customers in order to find solutions for their businesses.

Additional details, including a further break down of the program, key dates and how to register are available here.
