Suppliers assemble for construction expo

The NCEC features a high quality conference program and huge exhibition. The convention will bring together industry experts and more than 100 major companies to explore the biggest challenges and opportunities in the sector, as well as showcasing the latest in technology and machinery.

Suppliers to the quarrying industry exhibiting at the NCEC include: CJD Equipment/Volvo; Clark Equipment; Hitachi Construction Machinery; Komatsu Australia; GraysOnline; Plant Assessor; Position Partners; and Tutt Bryant.

Caterpillar launch

Exclusive to NCEC, Caterpillar is launching a range of next generation equipment with new technology and functionality.

Attendees will have an opportunity to be the first in the world to observe and trial these new machines. The launch will provide attendees with exclusive knowledge of the newest advancements in equipment and technology in the civil construction sector.

The new quarry-spec Caterpillar models that will be on display at the NCEC include:
• The next generation 323 excavator.
• The next generation 336 excavator.
• The 950GC wheel loader.

Caterpillar’s global product launch will be held on its stand (stand K20) at 9:30am on Thursday, 15 November.

Conference program

With a theme of, ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’, the NCEC conference program will provide a forum for industry leaders to deliver compelling insights on a range of topics, including:

• On-site safety.
• The aging workforce.
• Project pipeline and industry outlook.
• Technologies such as drones, intelligent machines, autonomous vehicles, VR and holograms.
• Workforce capability – skilled labour shortages and training needs.
• Best practice in equipment.

Presentations and panels will provide the link between construction equipment with the delivery of major projects.

Speakers include Adrian Hart, a senior economist with more than 15 years’ experience undertaking and overseeing research into Australian economic conditions, with specialist knowledge of the infrastructure, building, maintenance and mining industries. As the associate director of BIS Oxford Economics, he’s responsible for research and forecasts covering construction, maintenance and mining.

Aaron Marsh, the national technology solution expert manager for Komatsu Australia, will give a presentation on autonomous machines. He is responsible for the introduction and market development of intelligent machine control and Komatsu’s SMARTCONSTRUCTION business in Australia and New Zealand.
