Contractor addresses demand with crushing solutions

The company specialises in mobile crushing and screening for the construction and mining industries, and owns and operates a modern fleet of crushers, screens and other equipment, with most of the plant purchased new.

The company’s growth and success is attributed to a ‘hands-on’ approach to running the business, which includes working closely with staff and maintaining close contact with its customer base.

Pro Crush has personnel with experience in crushing and all associated applications that spans more than 20 years. This includes dealing with councils, civil contractors, quarry operators and international miners. The company has an accessible attitude and prides itself on the ability to work closely with customers.

Due to continued demand for high quality aggregates in southeast Queensland, Pro Crush continues to provide safe and cost-effective mobile crushing services to two of the major integrated construction materials providers in Australia, with contract crushing solutions in their large quarry operations.

Recently, one of these sites required the delivery of a new Metso LT120 Lokotrack jaw crusher. This 70-tonne jaw went straight to work, providing exceptional crushing power via its well-engineered design that provides an excellent nip angle, the largest stroke in its class and efficient crushing kinematics.

To top it all off, it provides this crushing power at significantly less fuel usage than comparable machines. The LT120 is big enough to handle a ~700mm feed, but still transportable enough that it doesn’t need to be disassembled for the shift.

The Pro Crush team are very pleased with its performance and are expecting high availability and production.

Pro Crush has also been operational at another major Gold Coast quarry, providing a range of aggregates for several months to a client with which it enjoys a long working relationship.

While all Pro Crush’s equipment was being utilised on other projects, an additional cone crusher was required to complement its fleet at the site. Tutt Bryant Equipment, which is the national distributor for Metso tracked mobile plant in Australia, provided the LT300GPS secondary cone crusher to assist.

The LT300GPS is a pure secondary cone crusher that is distinguishable by its steeper profile than the HP cones. This enables the GP cone to take much larger, all-in feed material from the jaw crusher. For example, in its current application, Pro Crush has its LT106 barely keeping up with the LT300GP, even with a closed side setting (CSS) of 150mm. The LT300GP greedily accepts the ~250mm minus feed.

“It’s an animal,” said Pro Crush director Richard Hill. “You can’t do that with a HP!”

The LT300GP can actually take up to 320mm maximum feed size material. It is currently set at a CSS of 32mm, and when a belt cut was taken the production was estimated at 280 tph from the LT300GP.

The LT300GP feeds an LT550GPF that acts like a finishing screen for some products but has one of its side conveyors feeding another triple-deck screen in the form of an ST458 to achieve the rest of the required finished products.

“The GP provides us with sufficient capacity so that we now have the flexibility to either continue to produce at a high rate or opt to use some of the time that the GP has brought us to keep us on top of our maintenance,” Hill said.
