Robotic solution to dangerous dam surveys

The business uses unmanned robotic vehicles to carry out bathymetric surveys. It employs satellite-positioning techniques with beam echo sounders linked for automated data capture to provide fast and precise processing.

Specialist hydrographical software plots the soundings and computes the data into bathymetric contours.

Groundwork Plus has partnered this technology with its unmanned aerial vehicles to provide an “all of site” surveying service.

This information can be used in operational and environmental applications in quarries, allowing for comprehensive assessment of storm water management practices such as catchment delineation, available on-site storage, water balances and sediment basin configuration.
