Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) adjust the frequency and voltage supplied to the motors on apron feeders and conveyors, allowing for different speeds, torque or power to be used at different times (eg a high torque upon start-up, and a lower torque during operation).
VFDs are particularly useful in extractive operations where a conveyor may have to handle different types of aggregate of different weights.
