C&D operation turns to new mobile options

The BMI Group is a Brisbane-based market leader, firmly established at the forefront of both the property development and waste management industries. It is a family-owned business established in 1988 and is committed to supporting local communities and providing innovative solutions for its clients in both industries. BMI Group currently operates conveniently located facilities across southeast Queensland that provide recycling, waste transfer and landfill activities.

Due to ongoing operational and maintenance issues with the previous crushing and screening plant, BMI?s resource recovery general manager Mark Dekker investigated replacement options for its construction and demolition (C&D) recycling machinery. After viewing Kleemann MR 130 ZS EVO impact crushers in operation at Dial-a-Dump in Sydney and examining alternative machines, BMI selected the Kleemann Mobirex MR 130 ZS and Mobiscreen MS 19 D. In April 2013, BMI Group took delivery of the Kleemann MR 130 ZS EVO tracked impact crusher and Mobiscreen MS 19 D to crush and grade various C&D materials at its Acacia Ridge location.

{{image2-a:R-w:200}}The Mobirex MR 130 ZS EVO is a mobile impact crusher with a large independent double-deck pre-screen and six metre side conveyor, a single deck outfeed screen with a return/oversize stockpile conveyor and full electronic/hydraulic controls. The Mobiscreen MS 19 D is a 1.5m x 6m triple-deck inclined screen capable of producing four graded products at rates of up to 500 tonnes per hour.

The recycling facility at Acacia Ridge accepts C&D materials, asphalt and general rubble from customers in the Brisbane greater metropolitan area. The C&D materials are supplied to the MR 130 ZS EVO in sizes up to (and occasionally greater than) 500mm.

All materials can contain various concentrations of ferrous, plastic and organic material. The feed materials receive basic pre-processing, including removal (and breakdown) of larger pieces, removal of plastic and organic materials.

{{image3-a:L-w:600}}Material can be fed into the MR 130 ZS EVO at rates of up to 450 tonnes per hour, where the machine processes the material into two or three products ? a fines material, crushed and graded product and an oversize product. The oversize product can be recirculated to the crusher for further sizing.

The independent double-deck pre-screen can be fitted with a punch plate, grizzly or blanking plate on the top deck and a mesh or blanking sheet on the lower deck for removal of fines and undersize material from the feed materials. The single deck outfeed screen is fitted with a mesh to remove oversize material and either return it to the feed hopper or, by swinging the return conveyor, send it to a stockpile.

The material from the outfeed conveyor is fed into the hopper of the MS 19 D for grading into various aggregate sizes. Depending upon the screen mesh and punch plate fitted, crushed concrete, asphalt and rubble products in various gradings from 0-70mm are produced.?
