ACE hints at signs of growth

The expo attracted visitors from the construction, mining, engineering, landscaping, public works, recruitment and training sectors.

Many exhibitors reported strong leads at the inaugural show. Barry Cook, business development manager for Action Mining Services, travelled with his team from Perth to exhibit.

?The good quality of visitors on the Expo floor and the number of quotes acquired over the three Expo days has certainly made our trek to Brisbane worthwhile,? Cook said.

?We had great feedback from visitors to our stand regarding what we had on display.  The AMS 15,000 litre water truck that we transported all the way from Perth and valued at $260,000, garnered lots of interest that resulted in a sale during the three day Expo as well as many more inquiries.?

Numerous suppliers with a strong presence in the quarrying industry were all present. These included MSC Group, Rammer, Atlas Copco, Caterpillar, CJD Equipment, Hitachi, Lincom, Clark Equipment and LSM Technologies.

?Although the number of visitors were down on expectations, we had some quality inquiries,” said Kirwan Barr, the CEO of MSC Group. “The visitors we had at our stand were very impressed with the McCloskey J50c jaw crusher on display.?

?I was quite impressed with the number of good quality leads we received over the three days. We had contractors from the right industries show real genuine interest in our products,? said Chris Moroz, the south Queensland sales manager for Komatsu Australia. ?I think it was important to our successful participation to showcase our latest machinery. Visitors were interested in our hybrid excavator and the PW98 wheeled excavator. They certainly were the highlight to our stand.?

?This Expo, in its infancy here in Brisbane, has brought different products and services, applicable to a vast array of industries, together in one place,? said Maureen Ryan, event manager for ACE.  ?Its success this week shows us that our target market has appreciated the chance to come and discover what?s new in their fields and what the future holds in their industry.?.

The next Australian Construction and Equipment Expo will be in Melbourne, from 21 to 23 February 2013. For more information visit the ACE Expo website.
