20th anniversary milestone for CJD and Volvo

CJD was first established in Perth, Western Australia, in 1974 by Ron Rafferty and Rob Jowett. The two directors continue to run the business today and have seen the privately owned equipment distribution grow.

In 1992, CJD was appointed as the Volvo CE dealer in Western Australia and 20 years later the business is still booming.

?We never really look at anything being short term. Our entire focus is to keep growing our business, the Volvo brand and products,? Alan Barnett, managing director of CJD Equipment said. ?Like everything, if we develop good strong relationships and focus on continued profitable growth, business can continue indefinitely.?

Today, CJD Equipment is considered one of the largest and most successful privately owned equipment distributors in Australia. In 1999, seven years after it first partnered with Volvo CE, the Perth-based dealer was appointed the distributor for Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria.

In 2000, the partnership with Volvo CE continued to grow when the company was appointed dealer for New South Wales and finally in 2001, CJD became the national distributor in Australia.

?Generally speaking I am optimistic and look forward to making improvements in our business and achieving better results in sales and market share. There are plenty of challenges which offer opportunities of improvement across many facets of our business,? Barnett said.

?We are extremely proud of the growth in the Volvo products, sales volumes, market share and the high levels of customer satisfaction. Being the Volvo International Dealer of the Year in 2008 and 2009 were also wonderful achievements.

?If we understand each other and the different needs, the success story will continue to grow, not only for another 20 years, but for a much longer time. I look forward to continuing our relationship with Volvo indefinitely,? he concluded.
