Mae Matthews recently presented the painting by her grandmother, Helen Matthews, to Ku-ring-gai Mayor Jennifer Anderson and it will become part of the Council?s art collection.
?The work has great historical significance for Ku-ring-gai, which was home to several quarries in the last century,? said Mayor Anderson.
Mae?s grandmother, Helen Matthews, who passed away in 1987, had also worked as a draftswoman in the office of Sydney Harbour Bridge designer Dr John Bradfield.
The quarry, which was on Slade Ave, is now a park.
