This is the first in a series of chemicals under development by Grace for use with manufactured sands. Grace is in the process of registering a name for its product and has not released details.
The chemical is formulated to mitigate the harmful impact of clay in manufactured sands when the sands are used to produce concrete or road construction materials. After treatment with the Grace chemical solution, these sands can be used without adversely affecting the final product?s performance characteristics.

The new chemical solution reduces waste, uses marginal materials and reduces reliance on washing manufactured sands.
Manufactured sands are generated from gravel or crushed stone and vary in quality, are angular and contain contaminated materials and must be treated.
The use of manufactured sands is growing globally.
