High capacity mobile scalper now on the market

Precision Screen, the agent for Sandvik in Australia and New Zealand, has unveiled the new Sandvik QE440 scalper to quarry and mining customers looking for the most advanced system for high capacity scalping applications.

The QE440 has been in development at Sandvik?s R&D facility since early 2009 and was officially launched at Hillhead 2010 in Buxton, England in June. Precision Screen also held an open day at Cumner Hardrock Quarry, near Brisbane, on 21 July to mark the machine?s Australian launch.

Designed and developed to cater for the serious aggregate producer, the 36 tonne Sandvik QE440 is a heavy duty, tracked, self-propelled, open flow screening and stockpiling system that features 40 per cent more screening area than its stablemate in the QE340. The new QE440 can be fed by a large mobile crusher, yet is precise enough to produce accurate gradings at throughput rates of up to 600 tonnes per hour, and is tough enough to recycle mixed materials. In addition, its stockpiling conveyors are both higher and wider than those on the current QE340 to efficiently manage its increased production capacity and to facilitate larger stockpiles.

The QE440 can be specifically tailored to a wide range of applications including the screening of heavy overburden at a quarry face, pre-screening and scalping, recycling of construction and landfill waste and separation of cohesive aggregates.

Aidan McGarrity, the southeast Queensland sales manager for Precision Screen declared the open day a great success, ?with many local quarries and contractors getting to see firsthand the machine?s performance and capabilities?.

Aidan related how at one stage the QE440 was recorded as processing over 700 tph of overburden material from the quarry face. The overburden material consisted of clay and trackite hard rock ranging from 500mm down. To process this material effectively, Finger top decks with 90mm spacing and 22.5mm mesh bottom decks were chosen.

?Every attendee was very impressed with the QE440?s quality, new features, ease of production and ample access for maintenance,? Aidan concluded.
