Sand and gravel producer assists Hills M2 motorway

Benedict Sand & Gravel has announced that it is the preferred supplier to Leighton Contractors on the Hills M2 Upgrade project.

The collaboration between Leighton Contractors and one of New South Wales’ largest suppliers of quarried, recycled and landscape products is worth in excess of $1.8 million and Benedict Sand & Gravel will be responsible for the supply and delivery of over 90,000 tonnes of specified, quarried and recycled construction materials over the next two years.

The materials will be utilised for the bedding of pipes, construction of the sub-grade and associated earthworks along the Hills M2 upgrade, which is taking place between the Epping Tunnel and Windsor Road exit.

Benedict Industries managing director Ernest Dupere said the company was “thrilled to partner with a progressive organisation like Leighton Contractors, who share our goals for delivering projects and services that enhance the greater community.

“Being selected as the preferred supplier was due to our strong ability and proven track record in servicing major infrastructure projects and is testament to the quality of our products, project efficiencies and overall flexibility of service.”

Owned by Transurban, the Hills M2 is a 21km motorway linking the North West region with the city.

The Hills M2 upgrade will widen the existing motorway between Windsor Road, Baulkham Hills and Lane Cove Road, North Ryde and will deliver four new ramps to improve access to the motorway. These works will take approximately two years to complete and will reduce congestion for motorists during busy morning and afternoon peak periods. It will also provide new entry and exit points to improve access to the north-west from Windsor Road and Sydney’s growing residential and business centres in Macquarie Park.

“We are very pleased to have secured the services of Benedict Sand & Gravel as part of the Hills M2 Upgrade project,” declared Leighton Contractors roadworks area manager Justin Redelinghuys.

Benedict Sand & Gravel is a major wholesaler and retailer of quarried, recycled and landscaping products from both company owned and external quarries, with an in-house distribution and delivery network, delivering to the greater Sydney region and NSW country. It is also the manufacturer of Glass Granulates, NSW’s first recycled, natural looking sand made from waste glass.
